View Full Version : Please help - How to take my dog to UK

Can anyone please give me advice on how to take my dog
(duchshond) to the UK without undergoing quarantine. I have heard that I could first send him to France and
then to the UK from France. Is this true? Please help. I am from South Africa.

In the 1960's when Elizabeth Taylor traveled to England she refused to quarentine her little dogs so she rented a yacht and kept her dogs on the yacht to avoid the quarentine.
You might write to Tony Blair an ask for an exemption. Send copies of all health certificates also.

Hello I am asking for some information on the quarentine my dog will face. He is a bull mastiff who was pick of his litter and has been
given the proper medical since i picked him out at 3 weeks old. Didn't take him home until 5 weeeks. I am to be married here in England in two weeks , my biggest concern is my dog. I am a resident of South Carolina. Is there ever a shortened quarentine with all the proper medical information history, please e-mail me back as soon as possible

I was in the same boat a year ago-
Because you can bring in dogs from France into the UK (after about a months time- not sure of the details anymore) I called a vet in France, that micro-chipped and would give me the necessary paperwork.
the ONLY way to get around the quarantine seemed to be to fly into France with the dog, get all his chip/paperwork done at vet, then fly back with him, or leave him at dog hotel until month was up (I would have brought him home) then fly back to france with dog and enter into UK legally.
Was going to be expensive and and really taxing on my 10 yr. old dogs health, so at the end decided to not move, passing up job.
anyway- good luck- and DON't quarantine your pet under any circumstances- you will regret it, believe me
