I hope that helps you. I, too, will be moving to Spain in August and plan to take me Labrador retriever with me; so I am working on all these details, too.

Are there any restrictions on the number of domestic pets which can be taken into Spain.
I have two small dogs & two cats. 'The Daily Telegraph Guide to Living Abroad',1999 edition, says that only two pets are permitted. Is this still in force?
Any advice would be very much appreciated.

I went on a site www.spanishpropertyco.com and they have some information about bringing in dogs and cats to Spain. You can also send them an e-mail to ask more questions and they will answer them.

Try this link it gives my personal advice having moved to spain with my two dogs and my cat, someday I will find the time to give an account of our journey. I look back on it now and giggle.

Go to Pets on the menu. There are additional links with more detailed information at the end of te information too.
Have no fear it is not as complicated as it used to be :-)

I dont think you will have any problem at all with your pets, & traveled with my dog, cat & 2 rats. If you get any problem you can visit www.inlandproperties-spain web site & they normaly have answers to most of the difficulties for expats.
Cheers,
Nicky

Thanks to Nicky, it has always been my concern whenever I have decided to travel. I was misinformed in one occasion and as a result had to go through a lot of humiliation just because of my pet. Therefore its always good to know about them before planning a holiday, and as you said this might be a chance for me.

Many countries require a rabies test up to 6 months -before- you leave on your trip. It's a good idea to hire a company who is familiar with all the rules and regulations, get your paperwork in order, and make sure you're all set to go. Keep in mind some airlines will refuse to take pets in cargo during certain very hot or very cold months. Often airlines will mess up and book your flight anyway and then when you arrive you're turned away. Ask lots of questions every step of the way.
