I am from Bolivia and right now I live in California, I miss my country very much and it is to me one of the most beautiful countries to visit, I have traveled a lot and still I had some of the most beautiful experiences in every way while backpacking around Bolivia and Peru, I traveled with my friends of Israel and that of course added a different perspective cause I got to learn some of the israeli balagan and we had an awesome time, my advice dont go just to the touristic areas, try to meet some people that live in those places, make friends, learn how they live, what they think. Do not compare a developing country with one like USA, it is not fare because we will have to go back in time in order to understand why some people live the way they do, native indian people in Peru and Bolivia come from a culture that was destroyed by spaniards, at soem point Potosi (Bolivia) had more habitants than Paris, of course that was when spaniards were stealing as much silver as they could and they were using natural resources that didnt belonged to them, and what they left behind is the poverty the poverty that can be clearly appreciated and felt. Tiahuanacu is located in La Paz Bolivia, those ruins are even more ancient than those in Egypt!! read and inform yourself before going to this whole area of south America, that was once The Alto Peru, so you will really get a complete understanding and not just half of the story that is the one that can be seen now. please dont go just by what a tourist guide book tells you, remember that was written by a person that might be completely different than you, try to make some research on your own.
