WITH REGGAE, RUM PUNCH AND REMARKABLE RATES, SUNSET BEACH RESORT & SPA PROVES TO BE THE BEST VALUE ALL-INCLUSIVE IN JAMAICA
- 2002 reflects no rate increase; additional amenities added and rooms being renovated -
MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica (October 25, 2001) — Sunset Beach Resort & Spa, Jamaica’s best value all-inclusive resort, announces its 2002 rates, additional amenities and room refurbishment, inviting singles, couples and families to experience the ultimate in variety this season.
Rates for the 2002 season reflect no increase from the resort’s rates in 2001. All-inclusive winter rates, effective January 1, 2002 – April 15, 2002, range from $250 to $310 per room, per night, based on double occupancy. Extra adults are $75 per person, per night and children are $35 per child, per night. For those who choose to indulge, one-bedroom suites are $450 per room, per night double occupancy. All-inclusive summer rates, effective April 16, 2002 – December 20, 2002, range from $230 to $290 per room, per night, based on double occupancy. One-bedroom suites are $400 per room, per night, based on double occupancy. All rates include accommodations, all meals and beverages, water sports, land activities, nightly entertainment, taxes and tips.
Due to popular demand from guests, a cyber center has also been opened just off the main lobby of the resort. The center features computers for Internet access so guests can stay connected to the world's events, check their e-mail and send faxes. There is a connection fee for the Internet.
As an added value through the end of 2001, the "Spa at Sunset" will offer guests a complimentary $50 spa certificate if they book and complete their travel between now and December 24, 2001.
Additionally, the resort is renovating 120 garden category rooms. Bathrooms will have new vanities, tile and fixtures and bedrooms will be painted in a fresh Caribbean palette. New furniture will also be purchased. All guest rooms feature: one king or two double beds, bathrooms with full baths and showers, hair dryers, telephones with voice mail, color cable televisions, in-room safes and private balconies or terraces. Additionally, all of the rooms in the popular beach towers will also be painted in fresh new colors, and crown molding will be added throughout each of the guest rooms.
The all-inclusive Sunset Beach Resort & Spa is located on the Montego-Freeport peninsula, a superb location offering total serenity only a short drive from the airport and just moments from the action, shopping and nightlife of sizzling Montego Bay. Hi,
Are there any beach vendors hastling you on the beach to buy stuff? If so, are they intimidating? Do they approach you a lot. It states in brochure that sunset has 3 'private' beaches, but I hear that Jamaican beaches are all 'public.'
Please advise
Thanks.

No, there are no hassles on Sunset Beach! We were just there in August. The resort allows vendors in to set up blankets, but due to the priviledge, they are very polite and non aggressive. There is just about no need to leave the resort! The beach is pristine, there's plenty of space, plenty of lounge chairs on the sand and all around the pools....there's a huge open air lobby with big cushioned chairs and sofas...this place is perfect!

i stayed at the sunset beach resort and spa in august and had a wonderful time. the staff was accommidating in every way and the spa was great. i do have some issue with the check and check out time factor, and prehaps that can be a joint venture between the airlines and the hotels. most of the flights arrived in the morning and guests should be able to check in earlier than 3pm or later. we want to start our vacation asap!! that needs to really be addressed.

we just got back from the sunset beach resort and spa sept. 23, 2002. we had an amazing time. it was great. the rooms were clean, the balconies were awesome especially the view from tower a room a904. the food was good, and pleanty of it. the jamaicans there were very informative, funny, and fun. they were like our best friends. we would definately go back. the beaches were wonderful, even the nude beach. the night life was very good. there is always something to do there. we tried kiaking and that was fun. we also went on the paddleboats and snorkeled. no waiting for drinks.the beach grill was awesome we could get food from there when ever we wanted. the chinese and italian resturaunts were sooo good. we never even had to leave the property, everything is right there ther is no need to leave. the spa was definately relaxing. my husband and i had the tranquil moments package and it was well worth it. its worth the extra money since it is not included in the all inclusive. the gym is located right in the same place as the spa. the fact that the place is gated in made us feel very safe. and the hotel located on its own peninsula was nice there are no other hotels next to it. very nice. i think this place should be rated a five star, although they dont have room service. we met so many people from so many differant countries while we were there. the hot tub was a good feature. i think anyone could feel at home here.there is so much to do, they have a whole game desk you can get stuff like outside scrabble, jenga, outburst, etc. the have the four tennis court. we played ping pong, pool, and they also have a basketball court, giant chess and checkers. you can always be doing something or always be doing nothing. everyone does there own thing, no hassles.there are bars all over and they make a good drink. my favorite was a moo-goo with rum...they put a real banana in it...yummy! i hope you have as good a trip as i did! the service was impeckable. we never carried our luggage once.oh, they also have a towel desk where you give them your dirty beach towels and they give you some fresh ones when ever you want.oh, dont bother trading your US money for jamaican, they take US money everywhere. if we were to go out next time we go it would probably be to margaritaville bar, in montego bay.i think it was every wed. they bring and pick you up for free and free comacozee shots all night. but you should probably recheck the day with the hotel.we talked to some people that had satyed for two weeks while we were there and they didnt have one problem. we didnt talk to anyone the whole time that had a problem with anything. it was really great there. even when it was cloudy and rainy out there we still had an awesome time.

We went to Sunset Beach in April 0f 2001. We were very impressed. Very affordable rates, great food, nice beaches and overall great accomodations. Very clean and neat! The only problems were the little plastic cups they serve drinks in. Go to the gift shop and buy a mug ($15.00 ! ! ). This way you can have a 16oz. drink instead of an 8oz. We noticed alot of these cups in the bay! Please don't litter!!
We were so impressed with the place that we are returning in May 2002 and we're getting married there! We are going to bring the kids with us and one is under 12 yrs. old. We believe it's very safe there too.
No power water sports = less noise!
If you go....enjoy!

I was really impressed with the resort. I was there for a wedding that I was in back in October and everthing was really nice. I had such a good time that I am now planning a trip for a group of 35 people going back to sunset beach resort in October. I also enjoyed the entertainment staff the did a great job at making everyone a part of the activities. I can't wait because we"ll be there from july1-7,2003 and since that is a holiday weekend I know that a good time will be had by all.

My boyfriend and I enjoyed our stay at Sunset Beach 1-12-02/1-19-02 very much. This resort has something to offer everyone from ages 2 to 102. There were activities available through out the day and live entertainment every night.
The secenery was breath taking, the food was extremely pleasant to the pallet and the staff was accomadating and delightful.
We have stayed at many all-inclusive resorts in the past; but thus far this resort truly stands
out in many ways.
Please keep in mind, Sunset Beach is not Half Moon, Ritz Carlton, or Sandlas so if that's the ambiance you're expecting this resort will probally not meet your expectation. However, for the cost of our trip we were very impressed and pleased with our stay at Sunset Beach and it most certainly exceeded our expectations.
If you have additional questions re: Sunset Beach or Jamaica, please don't hesitate to send a
E-Mail.
Hoping your visit will be as enjoyable as ours if not more.
God Bless!

Hi Debbie Gordon,
We stayed at the resort Dec 7-14/02 and had a nice time. One of my regrets is that I didn't get some photos of the resort. I took them at night while the x-mas lights were on and most of them didn't turn out. Did you take any pics of the lobby and the pools. If you did and wouldn't mind sharing that would be appreciated. Please email me back asap.
Thank you

this hotel is not appropriate for a honeymoon.
There are kids running around, the beaches are dirty..it is a national wildlife reserve...lots of wierd things swimming around...the hotel towers are nice though. the garden section is bad ..looks like the no tell motel...lol
try couples..or sandals..but not the montego bay one its is awful. good luck....!!!

My boyfriend and I are staying at the Sunset Beach from 9/21 to 9/25 and we were wondering if anyone took any of the side trips. Is the snorkeling that the resort offers any good, or do we need to take one of those trips. If so, which ones do you recommend?
