Would love to hear any ideas from anyone regarding a Christmas trip in Mexico. Information about where to visit, where to stay and things to do. We are a family of 8 and are looking for something reasonable. Would love to hear any ideas about ways to save. We really wanted to stay at an all inclusive but don't know if we can afford it. Would like to hear from anyone about ideas. We are not opposed to renting a house, just unsure of how it works.

Christmas tends to have the highest rates of the year in warm weather destinations, so it may be difficult to find a real bargain. But Mexico can have some real deals if you're willing to visit less popular locations.
Check out the story at family travel forum on the Nayarit coast, an area on the Pacific north of Puerto Vallarta that is an up and coming destination. It has some budget recommendations. http://www.familytravelforum.com/articles/article/12705
When you analyze all-inclusive resorts versus condos or hotel vacations, be very realistic about what you might spend per day on food and activities to have a fair comparison. I always find that my food bill is more than I've budgeted when I figure in snacks and drinks. All-inclusives can have a peace of mind factor for the parents, too, in that you may get more relaxing time since there is usually lots for kids to do.

We spent time at a Mexican resort in Cancun. The kids loved it!
