Has anyone taken their kids to ski in New Zealand? We are a family of hardcore skiers and snowboarders and are thinking about going to New Zealand this summer to ski. We thought
about Chile, too, but thought maybe New Zealand would be easier since we don't speak Spanish. We are wondering if there are any particularly good ski areas for families, and if the terrain is very steep. Thanks!

Sorry, I pressed too soon ! The best area for you would be Whakapapa, Turoa in the Mount Ruapehu area, around Canterbury you will find Caigieburn and Mount Hutt, Queenstown is a good starting off point in New Zealand for skiing. Snow NZ (http://www.snow.co.nz/)is a great sourch for new Zealand skiing, There are some nice lodges and other New Zealand Hotels (http://www.asiaoz.com/new_zealand_hotels.html)near the ski areas. if yuo fly via Singapore you can fly into Christchurch and then to Queenstown.

If you chose Chile I doubt you would have any problems with language as they have a lot of visitors from the US who go for skiing and in the ski resort areas plenty of people will speak English.
