We are planning a 3 generation 3 - 4 day vacation over the Christmas holidays in the San Diego area. There will be 6 of us - a set of grandparents who are 70 years old, myself and my husband, an almost 4 year old, and a 6 month old. We would love to do the typical things in that area - Legoland, SeaWorld, San Diego Zoo, Children's Museum, etc... Open to other suggestions that would be both kid and elderly friendly. In particular, we are looking for a good place to stay (preferably a hotel with a room and a suite so the kids can be in a separate room) OR some kind of villa or condo with 3 bedrooms. Anyone know of anything great for 3 generations (including young children) that would fit the bill?

Just got back from a San Diego week.
We stayed in a condo at North Coast Village
in Oceanside - 2BR & a sofabed in the living rm.
It worked fine for us - 2 little kids, 2 parents,
2 grandparents. The landlords were very nice &
helpful (brought us coupons, produce from their
garden, etc.), & the condo was $1000 for a week.
Their page is http://www.vrr.com/ca/519ca.htm -
there are lots of other listings in the complex
too, including the occasional 3 BR unit. Oceanside
is halfway between San Diego & Orange County airports,
between Carlsbad, where Legoland is, & Camp Pendleton.

Anyway, good luck on your trip!

We loved Legoland. We went for 2 days, & our
almost 5 yr old was in heaven - & she's not even
particularly a Lego fan. We were very lucky -
great weather & very uncrowded - no lines. The
adults enjoyed it too - exceptionally clean & lots
of amazing & humorous lego sculptures to look at.
Our 1 year old could run around without getting
trampled, & she loved the play structures. It's
expensive but I'd heartily recommend it.

How about the Best Western Blue Sea Lodge. They are great ocean front condos. There's lots to see and do in Balboa Park. Sea World is fun too. Only go to the zoo of you really like to walk and are REALLY into the animals. Only go to Lego Land if your 4 year old REALLY loves legos. It's not all that great for the money. Old Town is nice. Coronado is lovely too. How about taking the train/trolly into Mexico for an afternoon of shopping. Try the website: www.sandiego.org
Have Fun!
