Beaches, culture, nature near Singapore?

Our family has two or three days in Singapore next September. Dont want to spend any time there .. too expensive.

Any reasonably priced getaways where we can bring a 12 and 14 year old? We would like some beaches and see some Asian culture.

This is an easy one - go visit the Riau Islands. Ferries depart Signapore every hour or so. Lots of things to do and very reasonable cost, (if you stick to Batam). See www.batam.go.to

If you have some teenage boys, do an island trip.They will love it. Have a look at these guys: ww.riau-islands.com

If you have a bigger budget try a resort hotel in Bintan island. Do a keyword search using the words Bintan Batam Riau Adventure
