I totally agree, we visited Playa del Carmen and enjoyed the most breathtaking sunsets. We spent most of our time in the sun either at the beach or in the private pool at our penthouse. Plus, we found the most delicious Mexican food at the restaurants right around our hotel. (BTW we stayed at http://www.playapent.com). It was a great place to stay, we had a room to ourselves, then a separate room for the kids. Also, the kitchen helped us save on costs as we cooked our own breakfasts and lunches.

We took a boat to Cozumel for a day and although the town centre had a great vibe, after a wander down the coast all we could find was strange shopping centers and nothing else much to do...

I think we must have walked the wrong way...
