We were supposed to fly to Jacksonville, FL from Baltimore, MD this past Christmas. Due to weather problems, the flight was canceled. At 11:00pm, my husband, father-in-law, one-year-old son and I piled into the car and hit the road. What was supposed to be a two hour flight was a 14 hour car trip - nonstop. My son did wonderfully well, mainly because we travelled at times when he sleeps!!! On the trip back to home, we drove early in the morning, spent some time sightseeing around lunchtime, drove during his afternoon nap, went sightseeing in the late afternoon, and then drove a couple more hours in the evening. It made the trip take a little longer, but it was so much more relaxed and enjoyable because our son was happy and content!
