Has anyone found a full-service hotel or resort with activities for young kids in the mid-Atlantic area? We haven't found anything north of Hilton Head, and we'd like to go somewhere we could drive to. Thanks!

My husband, I and our now 2 1/2 year old daughter went last year to a development called Wild Dunes SC which is about 15-20 minutes outside of Charleston. The area is not as commercial as Hilton Head. (see www.wilddunes.com) our rental was through (www.greatbeach.com) We stayed in a one bedroom condo unit (Port O'Call) that was located pool side with a slight oceanview. The accomodations had one bedroom and a kitchen (they were nothing exceptional but really similar to most beach front rentals. The location was excellent, the accomodations were neat, clean, and having the kitchen was great! The pool was alomost outside our door around the corner and a one minute walk away and the beach about a 3 minute walk. They had a small playground that was a short drive or about 15 minute walk. There were bike rentals that they would drop off at your condo. We enjoyed the beach, pool and playground and when we got bored drove into Charleston for some history and entertainment.(We would recommend the aquarium for children) I am picky about vacations and loved this one, it was quiet, convienent and enjoyable. The only downside was that you had to go outside to find family type places to eat. As far as activities for kids they may offer a summer program for children over a certain age. If interested check out the websites. Good Luck!
