If you're interested in experiencing more than just the touristic part of Thailand, and you are heading to Krabi, how would you like to spend one day to ten days teaching in a primary school? We are working with the office in charge of district primary schools to help them find volunteers who would like to teach English in a variety of schools.
If you want to teach for just one day, this will probably be in schools near, or in the town. If you are willing to spend longer teaching, accommodation will be in a home-stay. For the most part, teaching will be quite informal, but we can provide you with some materials to make it a little easier if you have not done any teaching before. Some of the schools are in quite out of the way places, and accommodation and facilities will not be luxurious. If you are adaptable, humble, willing to learn about other cultures, and fairly self-confident, and think that you would enjoy this kind of experience, please get in touch with me. I will be happy to tell you more. My email address is: beartai@loxinfo.co.th
For families, the best thing might well be to teach for one day, but we could probably accommodate the whole family if that sounds like fun. We might need about a month's notice though, as it will take a bit more organisation than for just one person.
(Please note, I work for a not-for-profit organisation committed to encouraging and supporting more sustainable forms of tourism in the South of Thailand. This is not a profit-making venture - it is an opportunity for tourists and travellers to contribute to the local communities which they visit, and an opportunity for communities to meet visitors to their country in a way which is compatible with their culture)
