Car Seat In Nyc Taxis

How can we travel around Manhattan with our 1 year old. Will taxi driver wait for us to strap in car seat? Then we have to haul seat around town. Do hotels have car seats? Should we just hold her on our laps? Obviously they have babies in NYC, what do they do?

It is the law in NY that your child has to be in a car seat. Yes, the driver will wait for you to strap in the car seat. But rather than schlep the car seat everywhere, why not take the subway or the bus? It's a lot less expensive than taking taxis everywhere, relatively simple, and a lot of fun for the kid. check out www.mta.org (I think that's it -- you could also do a search for new york city transit) for maps and lots of info.
