Hello,
I just heard about a new airline called Song (It is a subsidiary of Delta). However, it is approaching the low cost airline carrier with a different set of rules in mind. It offers in-flight pay-per-view movies, with TVs at every seat (similar to JetBlue). However, it diverts from JetBlue on the note of being able to play MP3s at each seat, as well as games to play against other passengers on the same plane. The legroom is quite substantial as well.
This new airline actually excites me, with one-way fares as low as $79. It almost seems like a direct competitor of JetBlue!

Its inaugural flight is on April 15 to West Palm Beach from NYC I believe. It is serving the prominently the NYC area as well as the Florida Market. DOes anyone know if we, customers are allowed to fly on its inaugural flights, or other flights in April?

I want to go to Florida in the spring break week.. and the airfares are inching up at other airlines, so anyone know when we can start purchasing tickets at Song? Is there any type of tollfree number to call for questions?

Their website does not tell much (www.flysong.com) except a very catching flash animation. Ha

Kudos to Song,

- Jason

This is what I know about Song...

1. TVs & MP3 players won't be in the seats until the end of the year

2. Even though they won't have the TVs and MP3 players until the end of the year, all Song flights will have leather seats and more leg room than any other discount airline (and most 'regular' airlines)

3. Airfares will be cheap and simple, so they won't rip you off for booking at the last minute

4. The full flysong.com site will be launched on April 1. If you want to buy a seat on a Song flight prior to then, you can do it through delta.com. Although it doesn't say it, any "Delta" flight between JFK and PBI on April 15 or later will be on a Song plane.

If you have any specific questions, send me an e-mail at calvinklein@yahoo.com

Song is owned and operated by Delta Airlines and all of the hiring is done by Delta. They are all handpicked employees from the Delta mainline so it will be nearly impossible to get on with them unless you already work for Delta. If you are looking to get back into the airline industry, Airtran does a lot of hiring. Hope this helps
