We stay at this great condo on Maui called Luana Kai. Ask for a ground floor condo (they are the best because your lanai becomes your favorite place to eat and watch the sun set). They have a huge grass lawn that they mow all the time and I think you would be able to stoll down to the beach over the lawn with a wheelchair. There is a swimming pool and a hot tub and you can BBQ at the pool.
Another really fun place to check out even if you stay in the condos, is the hotels in Wailea, many of them have beautiful lounges you can sit and listen to music and have a coctail with an umbrella:)
There are several van rental companies who do business with Wind Surfers, the back of the vans are empty and you can put a wheel chair in the back, plus they are inexspensive.
The exscursions that leave from Maalea harbor are fun, but they I have no seen a boat that would accomodate a wheel chair, just for getting on the boat, you have to jump across.
However, I really really reccomend driving down to Makenna, once you leave the normal road (S. Keihei Road) there is a small bay, you cna park your car with on the edge of the bay and with a little help, your wife could sit on the rocks in the bay and use a snorkle mask to see all kinds of really neat sealife. Salt water is very floaty, if you go down to Snorkle Bob's they have boogie boards you can rent and tow your wife out with you and she can enjoy the ocean, plus they rent snorkle gear. I't s like $25 a week for a whole set up. It's free to snorkle in the bay in Makenna.
Be warned, Makenna is very new, lilterally, the rocks are lava rocks, so you have to be a little careful on them. But they are beautiful.
