Our family is looking for a place other than Disney to vacation. We are going somewhere in March but it needs to work for a 9 month old and a almost 5 year old girl. Any suggestions?

We travel a ton with our kids, but so much would factor into how to choose for you. Where do you live? Is it easier for you to fly for 4 hours, or drive for four hours? What do you like to do for fun? What time of year?
My husband and I love to take the kids to Monterey. We were there for our 9th anniversary this year. We stayed at the Spindrift on Cannery Row (Make sure you watch the movie Cannery Row with Nick Nolte, it's a perfect movie to set the mood), they have cookies and tea out at tea time. We have stayed in both the seaside rooms and the rooms that face the Row. I love them both. WE watched night divers shining their giant lamps thru kelp forests full of life with our 5 and 9 year old three years ago. And on the Row side, we watched tourists and military men happily socialize along the Row.
The Monterey Bay Aquarium is just awsome, they have a room full of interactive sea life built expeically for kids, my two year old LOVED it this year.
Across the street from the spindrift is this little cooking school-slash-bar/restaurant. The band plays outdoors, the food a great, and my kids danced all night as the air grew wet and foggy and salty like the sea. I even picked up French Sea Salt at the retail shop inside and won a jar of lavendar apple sauce in a raffle. The band was a jazz trio and the night was perfect.
The kids got to see many seals floating around in the ocean too, right outside the window of the restaurants. It's a little touristy, but you always feel the pulse of something salty and uniquely aquatic.
One night my husband went out after I was pooped and in bed with the kids and found a little underground bar where a few members of the Yellow Jackets were playing jazz.
Anyway, you be a HUMAN BEING and also a MOM or DAD with the kids having a blast. That's always nice.
