Just wanted to let people know that anyone with small children should avoid staying at the Winterholme Heritage Inn in St. John's, Newfoundland. I stayed there with my 4 month old. They put me up in the attic up several flights of steep stairs, and the room had a terrible smell. When I complained, the first denied any smell then blamed it on my baby's diapers! Forget the fact that the smell was there when I walked in and that almost all the diapers were disposed of in my parents' room, which smelled fine. Others with children have complained about this place on tripadvisor.com. STAY AWAY.
Otherwise, St. John's is a very nice, family friendly town, although not terribly stroller accessible, as it is built on a hill. A great family friendly place in city, which has very affordable 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartments complete with full kitchens is the Hillview Terrace Suites.
Happy traveling!
