I think given the recent events in Asia it might be a good time for us all to be reminded that the main safety and security risks are not Tsunami but day to day risks.

Importantly, the risks we meet when we travel are not the same as those at home.

I've put together a basic safety and security guide sheet which you can download from

www.thewholeearth.com/advice.pdf

Please feel free to download it and pass it on to others.

nice work - however not up to date.

the biggest health risk now in Thailand, Bangkok and the whole South East Asia is a bird flu.

it can be transmitted not only by wild birds but by the all poultry and now even by pigs.

if you do expect to stay in a countryside where bird flu is endemic you should avoid contact with animals, eat properly cooked meals and take care of higiene.

stock yourself with Tamiflu - which is (in absense of bird flu vaccination) the only known medicine able to prevent development of flue viruses in your body

Hasn't that bird flu thing proven to be a 'Potential Risk based on previous epedemics' and not an actual risk?

If so the safety advice remains upto date.
