Bahia Principe Tulum

My boyfriend and I are going to Bahia for my 21st birthday in July and wondered if anyone had any comments or tips about the resort.
My main concern is the beach and water- have read up on how much of the water is rocky and non swimmable. Is the swimmable area small? or large enough that it won't be so crowded? What about the color of the water itself- clear and turqoise?
Another concern is the nightlife. We opted to stay here instead of the Cacnun strip because we wanted a nice quiet place to get away from it all, but we would enjoy having some party type nightlife, aside from the scheduled "shows" that the staff puts on at night (we've heard they aren't too exciting). Are parties and activities available at the Hacienda don Isabel or would we have to travel to Cozumel or Cancun? If so, how late do they stay open?
I'd also like some tips on the best area to ask for our room to be. I definately want to be situated as close to the "good" end of the beach as possible, any suggestions?
What about Akumal- is this within walking distance for tulum guests and is everything included there too? Any help with my questions as well as any other tips about the resort appreciated. Thanks!

I have stayed there 3 times, and had a blast everytime. You can do anything there,
if you want to get away and relax you can do that at night by staying at the "hotel" part of the resort
or if you want to party the night away. The little hasedan is a great place, first at 10 there is a live band
that will beat out any band mexico, they play all types of music at your request. The staff also comes to the little haseda and they
dance along with you, this stays open until 1 am. Then during this time the disco opens at 12 thats when the happends,
you can do anything there, the music there is the best and the dance floor is a real dance floor, the stay open until 3, then
for us real partiers they keep all the taps on around the resort, so you can enjoy a pool party if you choose at 3 in the morning, that
usally will get real fun, and the staff lets you have fun. I have been to Mexico 12 times and this is the best place, ENJOY!
