URGENT: information needed about S. Diego or D. W.

Hi! I'm a single mother from Montreal, Qc, travelling with my 9 yr-o. son. I'm looking for a B&B or a cozy inn, or an appartment close to all attractions (such as Legoland in Carlsbad, Disney W., San Diego Zoo, the beach, etc.) to stay for one week. This is my first time in this region and although I did a bit of research, I still can't decide where to go and I'm leaving in three weeks. I've looked for packages with hotels but they are all charging me supplement for single!(I hate that!). So this trip would cost me about 3 000 $!!! Also, since I don't want to rent a car in a strange place where I don't feel very safe, I need to be as close as possible to the attractions. Thanks for your help.

You can't be close to those attractions. They are all about two hours apart(almost 100 miles between Disneyland and Sant Diego Zoo) You will NEED to have a car, or pay outrageous costs for a taxi and bus. This is California...you can't be without a car.

Of course, I saw that W.Disney was in Anaheim and the other attractions in S.Diego. I was told by a female friend that this area of CA is pretty safe and the road easy so the idea of renting a car is a little bit more appealing. i found out that there are also shuttles from hotels (or maybe I can find a private male chauffeur, ha,ha,ha).
