What is the deal with the permission to travel letter requirement for single parents...What is one supposed to do if there is no other parent available to sign such a letter (father is, 1)dead or 2)sperm donor is unknown or 3)deadbeat father is in jail and you don't even want to know he exists).

How do you prove a negative to customs authorities...that there is no other parent.

Wow I never heard of this, but I travel with my foster children and have always had to carry my
"ID" letter with me. Now that they will be adopted, I guess I'll have to carry a copy of that, since I am a single mom and never married so there IS no other parent literally.

I have to say I am glad to know of this though, because one of my concerns is that one childs dad (who still visits) would take him to Belize, his native country. Now I know that would not happen
(legally anyway).
