Hi Fellow Parents:
Time and money these days are limited, to say the least. So when we know of an inexpensive, one-day getaway, we should share it with each other. So, here's an idea for you and your little one(s).
I live in a little town called Lititz. We're 7 miles north of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Lititz has been here since 1856 when the Moravians established their community here. To this day, our town is rated "G"--you will not find anything sold here that is not appropriate for all ages. Our streets are clean, not a speck of trash anywhere; we VERY much take pride in the appearance of our town. Our park is constantly alive with programs, very often with programs just for the kids. Even if nothing is going on, the children have two playgrounds from which to choose and 7 1/2 acres to run in. We have pavillions in case of rain and a replica of an 1884 train station (welcome center) to visit. Bring your picnic lunch along and enjoy one-on-one time with your little one(s). Afterwards, go to Cheryl's, an old-fashioned ice cream parlor! Right next to Cheryl's is Wilbur Chocolates and let them see candies being handmade right in front of their eyes! Let them walk through the candy museum (free)--and DON'T leave without a FREE sample! Take them over to visit Bart the Bear (a HUGE stuffed teddy bear)at the Teddy Bear Emporium where they can see over 3,500 teddy bears ready to be adopted. Or, let them twist their own pretzel at Sturgis Pretzel during your tour there ($2).
Take them to Kready's Country Store Museum where both of you can go through an actual country store from 1840--with the actual products still in their containers, toys, clothing, memorabilia right up through 1940--over ONE MILLION items-adults $4, kids are $2--Kready's has a cafe area with the BEST lite lunch items you could imagine.
The list is too long...but you get the idea. If you'd like more info, visit our web site: www.ShopLititz.com
Hope to see you soon!
