I am taking my daughter to the FL Keys in June to swim with dolphins, fish and snorkel. I am totally confused now about where to stay. Are the roadside motels OK? We're flying into Miami from KC and driving down so I wanted to stay somewhere in the Upper or Middle Keys. Any suggestions from anyone? Budget is no more than $600 for the week. HELP!

Hi--took my son last August to Islamorada, also drove from Miami--about an hour and half. Also swam with dolphins, snorkeled with stingrays, snorkeling cruise, etc. what a wonderful place. Loved it, want to return again this summer.
As for place to stay--upper keys is closer, better off, but you need to rent car (no kidding). Try Holiday Isle, Islamorada--fun, great place with everything, try Ocean Pointe, Travinier, suites with kitchens, I stayed at Topsider, Islamorada, a timeshare. Try to get the entertainment, or encore card, find out where you can get it. The two places I mentioned will give you half price rates, if available. Won't cost more than $600 for week, if have the rates. As for roadside motels--I wouldn't do it. some of them looked pretty bad. E-mail me if you want--good luck.
