We are going to the Riu Palace next month-can't wait! Try www.riuhotels.com and go to the forum-there is a message board there. There are also some good pictures of the Palace on their page. This page has some good pictures: http://www.sunquest.ca/destinations/canriupal.asp
Here is a 360 of the beach area in front of the Yucatan: http://www.sunquest.ca/destinations/vr_yucatan_beach.asp
Please post if you have any info!

I am considering going to the RiuPalace Mayan in April. Any comments on the weather that time of year.
How are local police when you rent a jeep or car to travel around- Ive heard nightmare stories. If I plan to see cancun or the ruins should I take abus tour or drive. Any comments on the facility itself I've only heard good things. Thanks in advance if anyone has info.

My wife and I are booked at the Riu Palace in March for our 25th anniversary. We have already stayed at the Gala, Iberostar and the Old Diamond. We love the Playa area. Any information on the Riu would be appreciated.

We visited the Riu Palace for our honeymoon in October. In a word "paradise". We did not want to leave. The resort is beautiful. The staff leaves nothing to be desired in the service area. We would return to our room daily to fresh flowers and fruit. Sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. Our bar in our room always stayed stocked.
The restaurants to choose from at the Palace offers you a large variety of options. On your first day you will be assigned seating for all the restaurants. But you have to make reservevations for La Bodaga.Dont miss out on a specatacular dinner as well as the grand finale, the making of a wonderful drink,Mayan Coffee.
If you want a towel for the pool or beach, get there early in the morning, or you may miss out. All together we give the Palace A+++. We are returning ourselves in May. Have fun, and congrats on your 25th.

You may not want to use the hotel's consultant to schedule any tours. They are more expensive through the hotel. If you go to town on 5th avenue, there are many companies to schedule tours to Xel-ha the snorkeling lagoons and Tuluem the Mayan Ruins. I think that the tours are not cut out for the true sight seer. If you really want to enjoy the sites, you should rent a car and go at your on pace. The tours are very fast paced, you don't have alot of time to take it all in. We struggled to keep up and felt like we missed alot.
The shows at the Palace are awesome. The restaurants are very
