Can anybody tell be about the Beaches at Turks & Caicos? I am trying to decide whether to go to this all inclusive resort, or find another child friendly resort in the carib. My wife & I will take our 19 month old daughter. While I have heard that the beaches, scuba, etc are beyond compare, I am trying to solicit comments on 1) the quality of the mid to lower level rooms. 2) whether the planned construction of the new "french village" has been completed (should I be worried about construction noise & and whether or not the doubling of the resort size is negative or positive, 3) any tips on room selection. Any and all info is greatly appreciated.

Hi-
I have posted one message regarding this resort before. We were there two years ago, and I have heard that it is much improved since our stay. We were traveling with two children, ages 6 months and just over 2 at the time of our stay. We were in a junior suite, which was very spacious. The regular rooms are about the size of a standard hotel room, and we were glad to have the extra space of a junior suite. With one child, you could probably stay in the smaller room without too much inconvenience.
The scuba diving was very good, and the facilities were generally superb. The pools were a bit chilly, though, which might not be great with a 19 month old. Also, the child care facilities were rather pathetic when we were there, and bribes to the nannies were "required" to insure good attention to your children. Hopefully that has changed.
Another very family friendly resort in the same price range is the Windjammer Landing in St. Lucia. We were there several years ago and intend to return next year. Atlantis in Paradise Island, Bahamas is also in the same price range, but not the same style. You can see the website at Sunintl.com. Very much like a waterpark/casino with outstanding restaurants.
good luck!

Hi!

I took my 5-yr. old daughter to Beaches Turks & Caicos in January of this year. It was fabulous. The best vacation we have had together yet. The new kids waterpark, with slides, video games, their own restaurant, etc. was great. She loved it and has been asking to go back ever since.

The after day-care hours were a bit expensive - $7/hour for one child, $10/hour for two, but worth it for a couple of nights out. The sitter was great, and stayed in the room with her. My daughter complained that she was paying too much attention to her, and wanted to play and talk too much, and wouldn't let her sleep!

Definately recommend it for kids programs, beach, choice in food, diving, and snorkeling. Don't recommend it for nightlife if you're into a big party scene...

Hope that helps.
