View Full Version : Caribbean/mexico All-inclusive Resoirts
Posted by rfk
We are interested in planning a trip to either the Caribbean or Mexico for next Christmas. We would like a super all-inclusive resort that has beautiful beaches, health club, water sports, kids programming/babysitting for 4 children who range in age from 21 months to 13 years, good food, nice grounds, evening entertainment and above average accomodations. We would like a resort that has children for our kids to play with and programs for them to participate in, but one which also caters to adults. We are not interested in Jamaica -- dislike the idea of a 2 hour trip from airport and warnings to not travel about on your own (also heard the beach at Boscobel is nothing special), and have been to Almond Beach in Barbadoswhere we were very disappointed in the caliber of the child care staff in the nursery.
Have heard nice things about Beaches in Turks and Caiccos but are unsure about the weather in December-January. Any suggestions??? Thanks so much!!

We are hoping to make our way to Mexico at Xmas
2000. We have 2 children, ages 12 and 9 and 2 adults.
I'm curoius as to how much it cost for a standard room
with flights from Vancouver, B.C. to Mexico. I think
we would prefer even somewhere in Balise. If you could
send me some information that would be great. Thanks, Glenda

Hi Jill,
We took our then 7 month old son with us to Beach Turks and Caicos in November, 1998. A great time was had by all. My husband and I got to scuba dive and enjoy some adult activities and my son had a really good time in the kids club. I felt totally comfortable leaving him with the ladies in the kids club. The food was great, the rooms were very nice and the staff was super helpful. Email me with any additional questions. We booked our package on the web at http://www.all-inclusive.com/. Great service and excellent prices. I saved about $700, booking with then instead of our local travel agent.
Hope this helps,

Response: ALL-INCLUSIVE RESORTS (Continued)
We have looked long and hard for a place that we love like we do
Boscobel Beach in Ocho Rios, Jamaicia. We just spent a great week in Aruba, but nothing will compare to the wonderful time that we have spent in Jamaica. I cannot recommend any place better than this resort to go to with small children, you will get a nanny the first time that you you call for one [at $2.50 an hour no less] and it is safe, clean, everyone speaks
English and the focus is on children. Please see my response to others for
more info on this great place. I don't believe it gets better than this.

Bus Ride from Montego Bay airport to either Negril or Ocho Rios is a drag for the whole family, but you can get there by air for only $45 per person and it takes less than 30 minutes. Have been to Boscobel twice. Took the bus the first time. Two teenage sons, husband & I loved resort but swore to never do that bus ride again. Reserved the flight for the next year, and we've reserved one to Negril to get to Beaches this year. Have your travel agent book you on Air Jamaica (it's a real airline, flies to US, Canada and islands) for a beautiful, scenic flight. Boscobel has its own airstrip-we stayed at the resort till the plane was ready to take off!

Jill- Sandels Resorts has started a new chain of all inclusive resorts that cater to families
called beaches. The resort is alittle more splashy, catering to luxury and service. Like that all
inclusives the programs that they offer for kids are great. They have a new property in Turks & Caicos
I saw it when I was down there staying at club med (with out kids). As for the weather in January you should
be just fine. Not to hot, very pleasant. Remember it is only a hour and half flight from Miami. So
you can look at the weather for Florida Keys at that time, add a few degrees and your there. The further south
you go in to the Carib. at that time the better the weather. There a few very nice exclusive resorts, such a
little dix bay that are great, but more money. It really depends upon you. Where are you flying from? Let me know
if you need any help. I am an independent Travel agent specializing in family travel. Good luck. Sylvie

I had a great time in Nuevo Vallarta @ Allegro Resort. It was one of my most memorable vacations. In fact I'm trying to book a trip back down right now. This time I'm going to be taking all my friends with me though.

All inclusive is of course the best way to go, I would HIGHLY recommend Boscobel Beach - a great teen and younger progam and the best group of employees that I would ever hope to meet. These are people that we miss when we come home. We write to no less than 9 employees at this resort, from our Supernannys to our bartender at the Piano Bar. I cannot imagine not loving this resort, we have met such great people that my children are very upset that we would like to go anywhere else. We would like to see more of the islands but , this is the place tha we all feel like we are at home. Many repeat visitors as well, we have met some of the same people each year at this wonderful place and I am so happy each year when we come back.
