Hi,
I'm thinking about going to school in New Zealand but I don't want to leave my dog behind. Does anyone know what the regulations are for bringing dogs into New Zealand from Canada? I would appreciate any info.
Thank-you karen

I looked into it briefly last year. Check the New Zealand govt webpage. I think it is "MAF" that handles import of animals. The dog must be 6 months old upon entry into NZ. It must have documentation of all its vaccinations, including a vets note I think it was 3 days prior to the trip saying the dog is healthy. the worst part of the ordeal is that your dog will have to stay in quarantine for 30 days upon arrival in NZ. But it will all be worth it in the end. NZ is a wonderful country (I've been here a year and a half and am from Canada) and your dog will love the great outdoor NZ has to offer. good luck
